As a Health Worker at Yorke Island (Masig) Health Centre, I work within the Queensland Health delegated model of care that delivers a range of Primary Health Care (PHC) services to the Yorke Island community.
The clinic is located on Masig Island of the Torres Strait. It is a small clinic comprising of two consultation rooms, one treatment room and a waiting area. Our regular patient requirements are diabetes cases, daily dressings, medications, antenatal, babies and anyone else that we can help. Otherwise, we contact Thursday Island Hospital for assistance, emergencies or evacuations.
In November 2015, we had the pleasure of meeting two NAHRLS locums, Greta Webb and Marian Barnes who were covering our team members that were on leave.
It was wonderful having both Greta and Marian with us.
I was very interested in working with both NAHRLS locums, learning from their knowledge of PHC that they shared with me during and after work. I was also grateful for their support with my Certificate IV in PHC studies.
We shared our workloads and the team became very acquainted with Greta and Marian. We enjoyed working with them, even though their time with us was short-lived. There were good times spent here at Masig Island sharing in beautiful seafood and introducing Greta and Marian to the people of the Masig Island community.
It would be great to work with Greta and Marian again at Masig Island Health Centre.
