NAIDOC Week: Encouraging young health workers 'would boost' Indigenous health

An award-winning Indigenous health worker in South Australia says encouraging other young people into the industry would boost health outcomes for all Aboriginal people.

Whyalla-based occupational therapist Kimberley Hunter today received the 2016 NAIDOC SA award for young person of the year.

Ms Hunter said she was passionate about closing the health gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

"I think Aboriginal people are the best people to provide healthcare to our own people," she said.
