This financial year, NAHRLS locums have made it possible for over 1000 health professionals to take a leave and contributed to the continued provision of healthcare services to rural and remote communities around Australia.
NAHRLS celebrated RSPCA Cupcake Day on Friday, 23 August 2013 and raised a total $344 to help mistreated animals and fight animal cruelty. Thank you to all Aspen, NAHRLS and RAHC staff who made a gold coin donation on the day and all who donated online!
With one year remaining on the current contract, The Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) has extended the successful Nursing and Allied Health Rural Locum Scheme (NAHRLS) until 30 June 2015. This announcement recognises the vital strategic role played by NAHRLS in meeting the demand within the Australian rural and remote health sector for locum support.
The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Regional Australia recently mentioned NAHRLS on page 149 of a recent publication Fly-In/Fly-Out (FIFO) and Drive-In/Drive-Out (DIDO) workforce practices in Regional Australia.
